Mr. Laurence Leroux - Guidance Counselor

Mrs. Janet Rivers - Guidance Secretary

Mrs. Denise Scott - Student Information

Mr. Ken Heim - Coop. Education Coordinator

Mr. Michael Rooney

I bring twenty-five years experience in both middle and high school as a guidance counselor, guidance director, and school principal to my role as Director of Guidance at Pathfinder. My educational background includes Bachelors Degree from UMass-Amherst, a Masters Degree in Counseling from Antioch University, and a doctorate in Educational Administration from UMass-Amherst.

Although I look forward to my general responsibilities for supervising admissions, scheduling, report cards, MCAS, and other services for Pathfinder students, I most look forward to meeting with the students and working with them every day to make sure that they get the most out of their experience at Pathfinder. Another goal I have is to spread the word about the quality academic and vocational programs that are available to students who are fortunate enough to be accepted to Pathfinder. The school has a very caring and committed guidance department team. I hope to be able to contribute to that tradition.

Mrs. Brenda Turner

Hi, I'm Brenda Turner and I'm one of the school counselor's here. As a Pathfinder graduate, I possess a strong personal connection with the school and feel very fortunate to be working at the place that provided me with such a positive and rewarding high school experience! My main goal each year is to assist our students in meeting their full potential--pushing them to do, and be, their very best. I really enjoy working with the students to help them find success in school and in life, so if there's any way that I can be of assistance please let me know.

Mr. Larry Leroux

I have been a School Counselor for the past seventeen years and this is my tenth year at Pathfinder. I believe our main role is to provide a safe and comfortable atmosphere which will allow the student the freedom to communicate their issues and concerns. This will lead to a better understanding of their emotional and social problems. I also encourage input from teachers, parents/guardians and support personnel. Guidance is a resource for career and college exploration, scheduling appropriate courses and writing letters of recommendations. The role of a counselor is multifaceted and that is why I enjoy my chosen career.

Mrs. Janet Rivers

Welcome! I'm Janet Rivers, Secretary in the Guidance Department. Along with maintaining student files, I also do a few other things around here. When you've forgotten your locker combination, come see me. When you've lost your schedule and you can't remember what your next class is, come see me. When your contact information (address, phone number, etc.) has changed, come see me. When you are ready to send out your applications for college and scholarships, come see me so I can issue an official transcript for you. By the way, did you know that your school record is kept on file for 60 years!? When you apply for employment after graduation, your employer may be contacting me to verify your graduation date, even if it's 10 or more years after you've graduated! So when folks tell you it's important to have a high school diploma, believe them.

Mrs. Denise Scott

Hello, my name is Dee Scott, and I wear many hats at Pathfinder. First and foremost, I am responsible for Student Information which includes address, telephone numbers, parent/guardian, and other codes regarding information required by the Dept. of Education and reported to the State at various times during the school year. I also input both student and faculty telephone numbers into our automated phone system, Connect ED. For mailing purposes and emergency phone calls, it is imperative that I am informed when a student has had a change in guardian, address, or phone number(s).

In May, I coordinate our annual Awards Banquet. The banquet is held to acknowledge our hard working and extremely deserving students who have excelled in either academics, technical areas or both. During the summer I test our incoming Freshmen in English & Math for placement purposes, record and distribute the information to necessary personnel. I can be reached in the Guidance Office at extension 248 between 9 and 3:30, Monday through Friday.
