All Pathfinder instructors work with our special needs learners on a regular basis. This population can learn: they just need modifications or assistance to succeed in the classroom.

Instructors teach all learners the knowledge and skills necessary to compete in a global economy.

Meet the Student Services Team

Mrs. Nicole Heroux
Director of Student Services

Mrs. Heroux
Hi, I am Nicole Heroux, the new Director of Student Services at Pathfinder. Prior to being at Pathfinder I was the Director of Student Support Services in the neighboring district of Monson. I was also employed through the Massachusetts Department of Education in the Program Quality Assurance Office and did Special Education, Civil Rights and English Language Learner audits. I have numerous years of experience being a Principal and Vice Principal in both New York and Massachusetts. I received my undergraduate degree from Castleton State College in Vermont and a Masters in Educational Leadership from American International College. I am so excited to be working in my new role at Pathfinder helping students transition from their area middle schools. I look forward to working with the excellent team of teachers in order to help our students build a great foundation and be successful in the communities they live in. Please contact me at any time with any concerns you have in the future. Together we will work at having your child succeed.

Mrs. Desiree Dewey
Student Services Secretary

Mrs. Dewey
Hi, I am Desiree Dewey and I'm here to welcome you to the Special Education office. With over 22 years experience in a school administrative office setting, I strive to create a calm, comfortable atmosphere for the parents and students as well as the staff. My duties vary and include preparation for meetings, processing Individual Educational Plans, Mass Health reports, various typing, filing and general office work. I will be the first one to greet you in the Special Education office and will do my best to answer any of your questions.

Mrs. Jean Masztal
Vocational Specialist/Liaison

Mrs. Masztal
Hi, I am Jean Masztal and I have two roles at Pathfinder. One is a Vocational Modifier and the other is Liaison for a class of students. I have Masters Degree in Special Education and over twenty years of experience in Special Education. As the Vocational Modifier I am here to assist your son/daughter with assignments in his or her shop and related area. My goal is to help your child have a successful and positive experience at Pathfinder. As a Liaison, my role is to chair IEP meetings, assist with IEP development, and monitor students' progress. I will be following the group of students on my caseload until they leave Pathfinder, so I get to know them very well by graduation time. I enjoy working with the Pathfinder teachers, students, and their parents and find my job very interesting and rewarding.
