2008 SkillsUSA State Conference
On May 1-3, 2008, eleven students from Pathfinder RVTHS competed at the 34th Annual State SkillsUSA conference held at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational High School at the Best Western Royal Plaza in Marlboro, MA. The students represented the shops of Collision Repair, Culinary Arts, HVAC, Health Occupations, Machine Technology, as well as Extemporaneous Speaking and Related Technical Math. Hard work in preparation paid off, with five students receiving silver medals and second place in their trade competitions. The silver medal winners are as follows: Keila Bayanilla, Basic Health Care; Adam Girard, Precision Machining; Robert Harris, HVAC; Robert Mansfield, Culinary Arts; and Yvonne Simard, Nursing Assistant.
The following students also competed: Matt Berthiaume, Collision Repair; Justin Bellinger and Tom Matrow, Basic Health Care; Tiffany Curylo, Related Technical Math; James Desabrais, Extramoraneous Speaking; and Mark Trevathan, CNC Turning. Even though these students didn't find a place on the podium, they still were in the top 12 of the entire state in each category which is a feat in itself. All students should be proud of their accomplishments.
The following instructors also went to the competition and were a big part in the preparation of the students: Anthony Bishop, Culinary; Paul Bouthiller, Extraporaneous Speaking; Christine Girard, Health Occupations; Al Putnam, Machine Trades and Math; Rick Vadnais, HVAC; and Craig Sankey, Collision Repair. We are all very proud of the way students represented Pathfinder and themselves in a professional manner. A thank you also goes out to all of the other teachers and instructors who helped in the students' preparation. Thanks for another successful year.

15th Annual SkillsUSA Car Show |
The 15th Annual SkillsUSA Car Show was held on Sunday, September 30, 2007. The weather was awesome which attributed to our record numbers this year. We had over 180 show vehicles entered in the show which surpassed the previous mark of 60. The Auto Body SkillsUSA club profited $3,500.00 for this year's show. Best of show honors went to Andrew Colling with a beautifully restored 1968 Firebird Convertible. We are looking forward to next year's show which will be held on the the first Sunday in October 2008.

State Competition
On the weekend of April 28th through April 30th, 10 students from Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School will be attending and competing at the 36th Annual SkillsUSA State Skills Conference held in Marlboro, Massachusetts. The ten students will take part in a hands-on skills competition in their respective trades. Each student has to demonstrate their trade skills at various work stations which will test them against trade standards. In addition to hands-on skills, the students also have to complete a hand written trade knowledge test for their area. Most areas are comprised of at least twelve competitions that were the top twelve qualifiers from the four district events. The two schools that are hosting the state competition are Montechusetts VocTech in Fitchburg and Minuteman Tech. in Lexington.
National Competition
In the 2007 National, Cate Milkowski won the gold medal in Basic Heath Care while Jeremy Lurkham got the silver medal in HVAC. These are the first National gold and silver medals for Pathfinder.
