Mitchell Benedetti Book Club 11/18/11

We’re off to a great start. With two books already read and discussed, we have lots to anticipate this year. Many new members have joined the club, and everyone is excited about the fun events to be held later on in the year – specifically, a book swap. (Details to come.) Over the summer, the club read The Host by Stephanie Myer. Although Myer also wrote the famous Twilight series, this novel is about aliens, not vampires. Actually the story is about one alien in particular, and the story gets very complicated when it turns out Wanda is too nice to hate. Following The Host, the club just finished reading The Things a Brother Knows by Dana Reinhardt, about a boy, Levi whose older brother, Boaz comes home from war. However he doesn’t come home quite the way he left, and it’s starting to worry the people he loves. When Boaz disappears, it’s time for Levi to solve the mystery of where his brother went, and how to get him to come back home. Come by book club in room 208 and check out what’s going on. If you love reading and want to participate in a club, it’s a great and fun way to meet new friends. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is our next target. Based in the future, Panem (modern day North America) is divided into 12 districts who must present one female and one male, between the ages of 12-18, to fight to the death, until one is left standing. If this sounds interesting to you stop on by! Are you ready for the games?
