School Discipline
Pathfinder's Time Out Room uses the P.A.S.S. program (Positive Alternatives to Student Suspensions) with the emphasis on "positive." Mrs. Sawicki, the Behavioral Specialist, meets with students who are referred to the Time Out Room to talk about their problems, explore alternatives, make decisions and develop specific plans which lead to more productive behavior in academic classes and vocational shops. Many school behavioral problems can be eliminated by effectively intervening before punishment becomes necessary. Students may be referred by teachers, counselors, support staff or administration. Students may request a self-referral when personal issues prevent them from effectively participating in class but a student may only have up to five self-referrals allowed per year.
Safety
Emergency / Evacuation Procedures
Pathfinder has established procedures and codes to address a variety of emergency and non-emergency situations. Through a system of "codes," issues such as fire, serious injury and intruders in the building are announced and students are directed by their teachers and administration to safety. Regular drills take place in order that the students are familiar with the proper procedure if an emergency arises. In addition, Pathfinder has regular security cameras throughout the school, as well as on our buses. We strive and take pride in providing a safe environment for the students and staff.
Transportation
First Student school bus company does the bus transportation for Pathfinder Regional High School. Pathfinder transportation is different then their local town runs, because the Pathfinder students are picked-up earlier and dropped off later in the afternoon then the in-town students and have a longer ride to and from school.
