Ski and Snowboard Club

advisors

Mr. Mark Condon

The Pathfinder Ski and Snowboard Club is back for another year and our purpose is just what it sounds like....to ski and snowboard. Last season we had approximately 85 students sign up for the club. We ran two trips; both Jimimy Peak in Hancock, MA and each trip had approximately 45 students and 6 staff attend. The majority of the students who participated were snowboarders but here were still some skiers as well. Your ability has nothing to do with your participation in this club. People of all different abilities (including first time skiers and boarders) participated last year. What you need most is a good attitude, the desire to have fun, and sense of humor (to laugh at the teachers who try to keep up with the students!!) Mr. Condon is the advisor (he took over for Mr. Rickson last year who first started the club a few years ago) and last year Mrs. Turner, Mr. Costello, Mr. Bouthiller, Chef Mercier and Mrs. Cygan all went on at least one trip. We have attempted yo keep up the cost as inexpensive as possible and if you own your own gear all you have to pay for is the life tickets ($25-$40) and the bus ride ($5-$10) each time you go. If you need to rent equipment then it will cost you another ($25-$35) each time. This season we are trying to plan 5 trips to different mountains like Jimimy Peak, Wachusett, Bousquet and maybe even a day trip or two to mount Snow or Pico. We are obviously at the mercy of the weather and snow conditions at the mountains, but the idea is to try and run our first trip sometime in December with 2 more in January and 2 more in February. Listen for announcements as we will be having our first meeting soon and THINK SNOW!!!!!
